Alongside Poole Quay

Tuesday 28th August to Thursday 30th August 2018

Steamship Shieldhall, Europe’s oldest working passenger-cargo steamship, will shortly be embarking on her summer holidays, leaving the confines of the Southampton Docks on Bank Holiday Monday 27th August on a sailing to Poole, where she will spend one week before returning to Southampton on Monday, 3rd September

Moored alongside Poole Quay, she can be visited on Tuesday 28th, Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th August between 10am – 4pm. Visitors will be able to access the ship’s Engine and Boiler Rooms and the Bridge, and learn how a steamship operates.

NEW - We will be running the engines between 12 - 2pm!

We are requesting a donation of £4.00 per Adult & £1.00 per child.

Shieldhall will also provide a great viewing platform when she visits the Bournemouth Air Festival on Friday 31st August, Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September. For the Festival, Shieldhall will be anchored between Bournemouth and Boscombe Piers, commanding some of the very best views available. An informed commentary on the sights and sounds of the air show will be given on board, whilst passengers will be able to visit the Engine and Boiler Rooms under steam and meet the Captain on the Bridge. Shieldhall has a licensed bar, and will be serving a range of hot and cold food. Tea, coffee, ice cream and other refreshments will also be available.

Tickets for the Saturday trip to the Air Festival have now sold out, however there is good availability on other dates.

Run by volunteers, the Shieldhall is the 2018 Regional Flagship of the National Historic Fleet, and is celebrating her 30th year of charitable ownership.
