One way trip to Southampton, departing Poole Quay, passengers make their own way back to Poole. (coach transport may be booked – see separate form). See the sights of Poole Harbour, passing Brownsea Island and Sandbanks, Old Harry Rocks, Hengistbury Head, The Needles and Southampton Water.

As part of your cruise, see the impressive engine room with its original steam engines at work and the bridge, with its traditional instruments and gleaming brasswork; admire the ship’s steam assisted steering gear (similar to that used on Titanic); talk to the Captain and our volunteer crew; pass close to the great ocean liners and container ships; walk the teak decks; relax in the Saloon with our wide range of refreshments including tea / coffee; real ale; a range of Titanic bottled beers; wine and hot and cold food, available on all trips.

Children will have fun with our interactive Shieldhall Log Book, collecting stickers from various stations on board!

For those wishing to travel one way and then return to Poole we have arranged for a coach transfer from Berth 48, Southampton. This will pick up close to the Shieldhall at 4.30pm and drop off at Poole Quay. Journey time will be approx 75 / 90 mins. Just add this item to your basket when you checkout.

Joining Instructions 

Dear Shieldhall Ticket Holder,

We are looking forward to welcoming you aboard SS Shieldhall on Monday 2 September 2019 for our one way trip to Southampton, departing from Poole Quay at 10am.

IMPORTANT - Please note due to recently confirmed port operations in the Port of Southampton, we are now anticipating our return time to Southampton Berth 101 as approximately 5.15pm, rather than the originally advertised 4pm. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Boarding for the cruise may take place one hour before departure, ie. from 9am. We request passengers be on board by 9.45am. Please allow yourself plenty of time to reach Poole. Please note our revised return to port time remains indicative only and whilst we are unlikely to vary much from the time shown, circumstances may mean we have to return slightly earlier or later at the request of the Harbour Master.

Recommended parking is in the Quay Visitors Car Park – please see following link for a map and location instructions Post code for Quay Visitors Car Park is BH15 1BQ.

For those travelling by train, Poole Station is an approx. 10 / 15 min flat walk.

Please bring your ticket for check-in at the gangway with the Purser (you will have received this immediately following your booking).

Once on board, tea, coffee, soft drinks, wine and a range of bottled beers / real ale (including Flack Manor Double-Drop) may be purchased. Hot food, including bacon rolls, homemade vegetable soup, jacket potatoes, quiche and salads, plus cakes (including delicious Caymana Rum Cakes!), New Forest Ice Cream and a range of crisps and confectionery will also be available. You are welcome to bring picnics on board (no alcohol) but please note that use of the Saloon for dining is only for guests who purchase food from the Galley.

The Shieldhall Gift Shop will be open with a new line of souvenirs. The Engine Room, Boiler Room and Bridge will all be open for inspection once underway. 

A return coach departs Southampton Berth 101 for Poole, and this has been scheduled for 5.30pm. Tickets are still available (£14 per adult and £7 per child) and may be booked at:

Tickets remain available for Shieldhall's cruises to watch the Bournemouth Air Festival on Fri 30 and Sat 31 August and Sun 1 September, departing Poole Quay at 10am and arriving back at the Quay at approx. 7pm.
